“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1, KJV
Everyone is afraid of something: failing, being alone, what people think, what comes next. Psalm 27 doesn't pretend fear isn't real. It shows what to do with it.
Written by a man with real enemies
David wrote this psalm when people were actually trying to hurt him. Armies, betrayal, false accusations. His confidence wasn't naive. It was tested.
Light, salvation, strength
David gives God three names. Light: He shows you where to go when you can't see. Salvation: He rescues you when you can't save yourself. Strength: He holds you up when you can't stand.
The question that answers itself
"Whom shall I fear?" isn't a real question. If the God who made everything is on your side, nothing else gets the final word.
What it means for you
Fear will still knock. This verse doesn't make it disappear, but it changes who answers the door. Say it out loud on the hard days: the Lord is my light. Whom shall I fear?
Why it's on our Blessed design
We put an angel above this verse as a picture of being watched over. Blessed doesn't mean everything goes your way. It means you're never facing it alone.
