“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4:13, KJV
You've seen this verse on gym walls, locker rooms and eye black before a big game. It's one of the most quoted verses in the Bible. It's also one of the most misunderstood.
Written from a prison
Paul wasn't writing after a victory. He was under arrest, waiting to hear if he would live or die. Philippians is still one of the most joyful letters in the Bible.
The verse before the verse
Just before verse 13, Paul says he has learned to be content "both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." The "all things" he can do includes going without, waiting, losing and still trusting God.
Strength for every season
Philippians 4:13 isn't a promise that you'll win every game. It's a promise that Christ will give you the strength to face whatever comes, the win or the loss, the open door or the closed one.
What it means for you
Whatever you're carrying right now, whether it's an injury, an exam or a family situation you can't fix, you don't carry it alone. The strength doesn't have to come from you. It comes through Him.
Why we made Flight Through Adversity
Doves rising above barbed wire: freedom and peace breaking through what was meant to hold them down. This design is for anyone in a hard season who refuses to stay grounded.
